Scorpion Russian Submarine in Long Beach
The Scorpion Russian Submarine was built in 1972 to support the Russian Navy. It is 299 feet long and was capable of diving 985 feet. The Scorpion arrived in Long Beach in 1998 after being in Australia from 1995. The tour through the Scorpion takes you on the same corridors that sailors themselves walked with considerable difficulty through narrow doorways, passages, lowered roofs and ladders.
The Scorpion Russian Submarine allows visitors to see the torpedo rooms, crew’s quarters, gallery, electronics areas, and the machinery rooms. The torpedo tubes are left open for visitors to peer down into the space. It is also possible to look through the periscope out at Long Beach and the ocean.
Visiting Hours are from 10am to 6pm seven days a week. Admission is $10.95 for adults, $9.95 for seniors and children.
