The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a Japanese garden located in the campus of California State University, in Long Beach and was devoted in April of 1981, designed by a Long Beach architect. Surrounded by tall trees, this stylish 1.3 acre garden features a lush green landscape, the perfect foil for the elegantly arched bridge, sparkling koi pond, and shining waterfalls. You can also enjoy leisurely walking on the garden paths with feeding the koi fish and viewing the garden’s wide bonsai collection.

Mother’s Beach in Long Beach is a favorite destination for families which is located at Marine Park. This Beach is a protected water area near the marina and recently had added a filtration system for the water to make this one of the cleanest beaches around. It is famous for its gentle waves, featuring sandy, grassy picnic areas with a lot of shade and a newly renewed playground right on the sand. The shallow swimming area is roped off from the rest of the bay.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily
Parking: $5.00 between 9 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., $2.00 before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m.

Mother’s Beach in Long Beach is a popular spot to watch the annual Naples Boat Parade, although you can only see the big boat parade from this location. Water skiing is permissible in designated areas only between 8 a.m. to sunset. Rowing is also allowed with the proper running lights and observing the 5-mile per hour speed limit. Facilities include fishing, food shops, lifeguards, picnic tables, restrooms, showers, and barbeques.

The Queen Mary is the most famous landmark in Long Beach. The original cruise liner RMS Queen Mary, built in 1937 made her 516th and final voyage to Long Beach, California on December 9, 1967. The ship is now a hotel and attraction with a variety of restaurants, nightlife, tours and special events on board.

The RMS Queen Mary Long Beach includes the outdoor Queen Mary Events Park and the Queen Mary Dome, which once housed Howard Hughes’ albatros of an airplane, the Spruce Goose. The Ghosts and Legends of the Queen Mary tour dramatizes paranormal and historic events aboard the ship. Evening tours include haunted explorations and midnight ghost tours led by paranormal experts.

Hours: Daytime attraction hours are Monday through Thursday 10 am to 6:00 pm and Friday through Sunday 10 am to 7 pm

Parking: First 30 minutes free, 31 minutes to an hour $3, over an hour $15 per 12 hours, $17 per 24 hours for hotel guests, lost ticket $80.
